Story for The Tap Dance Kid

Nominated for seven Tony Awards (including Best Musical), The Tap Dance Kid is part vaudevillian ode, part 1950s family drama, with a whole lot of world-class tapping thrown in. Alexander Bello (Caroline, or Change) plays 10-year-old Willie, the title character who dreams of being a hoofer like his Uncle Dipsey (Trevor Jackson of TV's Grown-ish) despite the objections of his lawyer father, played by Joshua Henry (Carousel).

Directed by Broadway luminary Kenny Leon (A Raisin in the Sun, The Wiz Live!), with a modern adaptation by Lydia Diamond (Stick Fly) and new choreography by Jared Grimes (After Midnight), this show—and the brilliant Encores! Orchestra—will have your family singing “Fabulous Feet” all the way home.
