Andrew Burnap makes his Broadway debut in the flashy role of Toby Darling in Matthew Lopez’s The Inheritance
. The Yale Drama alum originated the role of the beautiful but self-destructive writer with a troubled past in the 2018 Young Vic production and the subsequent West End transfer. His performance throughout the two-part drama is just sensational—he has to dive into the darkest, most unlikable parts of Toby while never losing the audience or their early affection for Toby, and the result is mesmerizing.Scroll on as BroadwayBox indulges in a minor post-Inheritance Andrew Burnap obsession.
In New York, Andrew previously appeared in two big Shakespeare in the Park productions. He made his Park debut in the ensemble of the Public Theater’s 2014 production of King Lear before taking on the title role of Troilus in their 2016 production of Troilus and Cressida.
In the fall of 2016, Andrew co-starred in Nicky Silver’s dark marriage comedy This Day Forward at the Vineyard Theatre.
Perhaps his biggest role before The Inheritance was starring as Casey (a failed Elvis impersonator turned drag queen) in the Geffen Playhouse production of Matthew Lopez’s The Legend of Georgia McBride in 2017. The following year, he’d be starring in the London premire of Lopez’s epic The Inheritance.
