Five years ago today, Jeff Whitty, Tom Kitt, Lin-Manuel Miranda & Amanda Green's musical adaptation of Bring It On opened at the St. James Theatre and launched the careers of a rising crop of Broadway talent.
Scroll on to see what the 10 stars of the musical are up to today.
Taylor Louderman (Campbell)
Good girl Campbell is now lamenting the “History of Wrong Guys” in the Tony-winning musical Kinky Boots before going on to lead the world premiere of Mean Girls as Regina George. #IKnowRight. On screen, she starred as Wendy in Peter Pan Live! and Jen in the movie musical Life of an Actress. She has a recurring role as Blaire in the upcoming animated series Sunny Day.
Adrienne Warren (Danielle)
The fierce leader of Jackson high is a 2016 Tony nominee for her incredible supporting role in Shuffle Along (OMG, that "I'm Simply Filled with Jazz"!). She starred as Tina Turner in the workshop of her new bio-musical. No word yet if she’ll take it to London in 2018 or stay local. #ThatDreamgirlsTweet
Ariana DeBose (Nautica)
After appearing as The Bullet in the megahit Hamilton, Ariana is currently starring as Jane, the leading lady, in A Bronx Tale on Broadway. She also starred on Broadway as The Leading Player in the Tony-winning Pippin revival and Mary Wilson in Motown.
Jason Gotay (Randall)
After making his debut in Bring It On, Gotay played Peter Parker/Spider-Man on Broadway and appeared in Peter Pan Live! He most recently starred in the regional premieres of A Bronx Tale and Freaky Friday and the Muny productions of The Little Mermaid (Prince Eric) and Into the Woods (Jack). He was also super hot in off-Broadway’s hipster musical F#cking Up Everything.
Neil Haskell (Steven)
After Bring It On, Neil appeared in Broadway’s Cinderella and made a guest appearance as Dolph in Glee. Then, he opened Hamilton as a swing, moved over to a featured dance role in the short-lived Tuck Everlasting, and now he's back in Hamilton as Charles Lee (whee!).
Gregory Haney (La Cienega)
TBH: I’m still obsessed with this scene-stealing performance. Gregory then went on to star in off-Broadway’s Stonewall drama Hit the Wall, appeared as Chistery in Wicked and a dancer in Grease Live! He’s currently a swing in Hamilton.
Elle McLemore (Eva)
Elle went on to star as Heather McNamara in the original off-Broadway production of the cult musical Heathers—she was so funny! On screen, she starred as Holly Truman’s in Lifetime’s popular series Army Wives and Patty Simcox in Grease Live!
Ryann Redmond (Bridget)
Redmond went on to appear in Broadway’s If/Then. She starred as Tracy Turnblad in the MUNY's production of Hairspray and Taylor in off-Broadway’s Gigantic. She’s currently starring off-Broadway in Marvelous Wonderettes
Kate Rockwell (Skylar)
Kate starred as Sherrie in Broadway's Rock of Ages and Belle in The Muny’s Beauty and the Beast. Next season, she’ll join Taylor Louderman as the simple but beautiful plastic Karen Smith in Mean Girls.
Janet Krupin (Kylar)
After Bring It On, Janet was a swing in the musical If/Then and a standby in Hands on a Hardbody. She hosted the popular web-series The Click Clique; she released her debut EP, Aurora EP; she currently performs with her band The Jackson Massive. On September 1, her debut musical, Chemical Drive, makes its world premiere at Feinstein's/54 Below.
