Little Shop of Horrors is back on the New York stage, and that is reason to rejoice. The beloved musical returns to its off-Broadway roots with a highly-anticipated new run beginning September 17 at the Westside Theatre starring Johnathan Groff as Seymour, Tammy Blanchard as Audrey, & Christian Borle as Orin Scrivello D.D.S.
But any Little Shop fan worth their salt knows that the Urchins are where it’s at. This epic trio has some of the fiercest moments in the score! (Pour one out for the Urchines that came before: the OOBC, the movie, and the Broadway production.) Bringing Ronnette, Crystal, and Chiffon to life onstage in the new revival are Ari Groover, Salome Smith, and newcomer Joy Woods. Scroll on to hear these ladies .
Ari Groover (Ronnette)
Ari Groover has the most New York credits of the bunch. Chances are you saw her in the musicals Alice by Heart, Summer, Holler If Ya Hear Me, or Head Over Heels. She brings her cool, unique sound to the role of Ronnette.
Salome Smith (Crystal)
Salome makes her off-Broadway debut as Crystal in this production. She most recently Dorothy in the Lyric Stage Company’s production of The Wiz (hear her “Home” here!).
Joy Woods (Chiffon)
Joy is a recent high school graduate—yes, get that! For her performance as Deloris Van Cartier, she received a Best Actress nomination for the Illinois High School Musical Theatre Awards. Now she’s making her off-Broadway debut as Chiffon.
Don’t miss these ladies tear it up live in ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ at off-Broadway’s Westside Theatre beginning September 17.
