& Juliet celebrated their opening night on November 17th at Broadway's Stephen Sondheim Theatre. The radio-hit filled musical with a Shakespeare twist began as a hit across the pond in London's West End winning three Olivier Awards. The score is filled with hit after hit from music producer and songwriter Max Martin with songs made popular by pop queens Britney Spears, Kelly Clarkson, Katy Perry, boybands Backstreet Boys, NSYNC and so many more music hit makers.
& Juliet takes audiences on a journey to ponder if Juliet of William Shakespeare's renowned tragedy chose a different path at the end of Romeo and Juliet. Characters from the famed play then cross paths with new characters thanks to the work of Schitt's Creek writer and this musical's book writer David West Read. Luke Sheppard and Jennifer Weber make their Broadway debuts as director and choreographer respectively. Lorna Courtney steps into the spotlight as our title heroine Juliet and Ben Jackson Walker is making his Broadway debut as Romeo. Playing William Shakespeare and his love Anne Hathaway are beloved Broadway stars Stark Sands and Betsy Wolfe. Tony Award winner Paulo Szot takes on the role of Lance with Melanie La Barrie making her Broadway debut as Angelique.
