Each day, the Bbox team trolls YouTube for the hot clip—sometimes it's a brand-new moment and sometimes it's a throwback to an oldie but goodie. No matter what praise hands are shot up, pearls are clutched and the repeat button is hit.
"Spin Those Records" from Broadway Bounty Hunter (Annie Golden)
Ulterior Motives: August 12th marks National Vinyl Record Day. The first song that came to mind was sung by one of the coolest ladies - Annie Golden - singing "Spin Those Records" from the 2019 Off-Broadway musical Broadway Bounty Hunter which featured a Joe Iconis score and a book by Joe, Lance Rubin and Jason "SweetTooth" Williams. In the show, Annie Golden plays a "woman of a certain age" who moves from an acting career on the stage to a casual transition to bounty hunting. In the song, Annie, while reminiscing about her late husband Charlie, sings of how the music on her old 45 records remind her of him.
Ultimate 🙌 🙌 moment: Annie is so fabulously and uniquely her own proving it in this performance. Our ultimate moment is 3:30 - 3:54. There's a twinkle in her eye, there's an honesty to the lyric and it's going to make you want to grab your own LPs and throw some records on your turntable. She really brings the song home unleashing her huge voice with a vocal assist from book writers Rubin and Williams with Iconis on the keys. Turn up the Broadway Bounty Hunter cast recording and do some online vinyl record shopping this afternoon!
