Each day, the Bbox team trolls YouTube for the hot clip—sometimes it's a brand-new moment and sometimes it's a throwback to an oldie but goodie. No matter what praise hands are shot up, pearls are clutched and the repeat button is hit.
"Nights On Broadway" from Saturday Night Fever (Orfeh and Paige Price)
Ulterior Motives: It's the 21st Broadway Opening Night Anniversary of the discotastic film to stage adaptation of Saturday Night Fever. The musical encouraged audiences nightly at Broadway's Minskoff Theatre "You Should Be Dancing"! James Carpinello stepped into the iconic "Boogie Shoes" of John Travolta's Tony Manero. The number that stuck with us the most was the duet between Orfeh (Annette) and Paige Price (Stephanie Mangano) - "Nights On Broadway." The duo performed The Bee Gees tune in the heart of Times Square at 2000's Broadway on Broadway. Fun fact, Orfeh and her now hubby Andy Karl met on this production when he joined the cast as a cover for Tony!
Ultimate 🙌 🙌 moment: All right friends - here is the time stamp, we're going to take a journey. The fireworks show begins at 1:35. Orfeh begins her lyric with such sass and power ("though YOU did not want me to" / growl into a riff). Then Ms. Paige Price comes in with her pure soprano harmony which sounds so fab with Orfeh. 1:48 gives us our fave Orfeh riff which is just rockstar riff heaven. It is zero surprise that she went on to inhabit superstar vocalist Janis Joplin in Off-Broadway's Love, Janis two years later. Then! Paige decides to belt it out and we get the best harmonies in the whole song at 2:01 - 2:03. Paige harmonizes belting a high F on "straight to the heart songs!" We have "Night Fever"!
