Each day, the Bbox team trolls YouTube for the hot clip—sometimes it's a brand-new moment and sometimes it's a throwback to an oldie but goodie. No matter what praise hands are shot up, pearls are clutched and the repeat button is hit.
"Leia" (Andrew Barth Feldman)
Ulterior Motives: May. The Fourth. Be With You. We could think of no other clip that would be more ideal for this day than a video from SW: A New(sical) Hope.
Back in eighth grade, Jimmy Award winner and recent Evan Hansen the fantastic Andrew Barth Feldman, along with friend Adrian Dickson created a musical parody of Star Wars: A New Hope with a little help from their friends. Earlier this year, Andrew brought a concert staging of the musical to Feinstein's 54 Below taking along some of his Broadway pals, many from Dear Evan Hansen like Alex Boniello, Will Roland, Gabrielle Carrubba, Sky Lakota-Lynch, Jared Goldsmith and many more. The concerts were a benefit for NEXT for AUTISM as a portion of the ticket sales were donated to the charity. According to their website, NEXT for AUTISM "addresses the needs of people with autism and their families across the country, right now."
In this scene, we see Han Solo (Feldman) singing of his adoration for Princess Leia (Natalie Walker) in the most rifftastic fashion.
Ultimate 🙌 🙌 moment: The riffs coming out of this less than three minute song are bonkers. Andrew Barth Feldman has a voice that does not quit. This song could have been covered by any boy band in the early 2000's. We love 1:28's "you took your blaster and shot my heart" whisper.
