Each day, the Bbox team trolls YouTube for the hot clip—sometimes it's a brand-new moment and sometimes it's a throwback to an oldie but goodie. No matter what praise hands are shot up, pearls are clutched and the repeat button is hit.
"Don't Rain On My Parade" (Lillias White)
Ulterior Motives: Taylor Trensch declared she was one of his very favorites and honestly - this outstanding performance should be required viewing for all musical theatre fans. Today is the amazing Lillias White's birthday. She has appeared on Broadway in so many shows including Dreamgirls, Once on This Island, How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying, Fela! and her Tony and Drama Desk winning performance in The Life. In September 2002, she phenomenally closed the first act of The Actors Fund benefit performance of Funny Girl with her glorious "Don't Rain On My Parade." She sang riffs in this number that are still awed and talked about to this day.
Ultimate 🙌 🙌 moment: The glamorous Lillias puts her own incredible out of this world stamp on this classic Barbra Streisand tune. There are so many beautiful vocal flourishes throughout the performance. Truly the whole thing is an ultimate moment but if we had to pick...3:28 to the end of her last riffed note that gave us goosebumps! The audience can't even wait until the end of the song to cheer and jump out of their seats for her! This is one of those performances you simply can never forget. Happy birthday Lillias!
