Each day, the Bbox team trolls YouTube for the hot clip—sometimes it's a brand-new moment and sometimes it's a throwback to an oldie but goodie. No matter what praise hands are shot up, pearls are clutched and the repeat button is hit.
"I Am What I Am (Dance Version)" originally from La Cage aux Folles (J. Harrison Ghee)
Ulterior Motives: We are cheering all of the ovations on the brink of this Pride weekend and turning the music up on this brand new dance remix of one of Jerry Herman's signature songs. The incredibly funny Jimmy Larkin of beloved Insta account @letshearitforthechoice along with best friend Devin Lewis blessed us with an amazing dance remix of Pasek & Paul's "Ready To Be Loved" in March that was so much fun. For Pride, Jimmy and Devin are back with this extraordinary new track. Led by the dazzling J. Harrison Ghee, an all queer cast comprised of Broadway triple threats, gay/trans activists, and astounding trailblazers in the community appear in this spectacular Broadway celebration of a music video. This video is gorgeously shot by Halleloo Creative and choreographed with high-energy total fierceness by James Alonzo White. It is truly a party! As enormous Broadway fans, we were over the moon seeing so many iconic Broadway couples recreated with queer pairings to brilliant results. More on that in our Ultimate Moment! The track is available where you find your steaming music and you can also share this IGTV clip with pals on social. You will def want to blast it loud with your dancing shoes on all weekend.
Ultimate 🙌 🙌 moment: Ok where do we even start!? We need to applaud J. Harrison's remarkable vocal on the entire track and all of the legendary lewks served throughout! So fantastic. Jackie Cox as Dolly Levi - yes please. We don't want to spoil the reveal of so many of the characters but we have to say our ultimate moment is the reveal of DeMarius Copes at 1:55 followed by one of our fave funny men with an amazing dance break - thank you James Alonzo White for those briliant moves. Push play, share it with friends. It is a celebration of theater. It is pure joy. Wishing everyone a Happy Pride Weekend!
