Ulterior Motives: Purlie opened today at the Broadway Theatre, and showstopper Melba Moore went on to win a Tony Award for her performance as Lutiebelle.
Ultimate 🙌 🙌 moment: When Melba gets up from that chair on that "love, love, love" at 1:16, it's like sitting on top of a roller coaster giddy for the fall that's about to come. My personal fave moment is 2:33 for "bye bye blues"—when the roller coaster basically just flips upside and goes to the side all at once.
