The wonderful new revival of Fiddler on the Roof

(and its perfect cast) has been preserved as a cast recording thanks to BroadwayRecords. It’s available now and it’s one of those must-own albums for true theatre fans. Below, BroadwayBox reacts in animated GIF as we give this Fiddler a first listen.

2. Matchmaker (Alexandra Silber, Samantha Massell & Melanie Moore)

DAMN! These three sound gorgeous together. I don’t think I’ve ever liked the Tzeitel part of this song as much as in this recording—slay Silber!

3. If I Were a Rich Man (Danny Burstein)

4. Sabbath Prayer (Danny Burstein, Jessica Hecht & Company)

Randomly, my favorite song in the show and impossible not to lose yourself in.

5. To Life (Danny Burstein, Adam Dannheisser, Aaron Young & Male Ensemble)

6. Tevye’s Monologue (Danny Burstein)

So glad this recording includes Tevye’s “they gave each other a pledge” moment. Perfection.

7. Miracle of Miracles (Adam Kantor)

That awkward moment you realize you’re giving a mid-office standing ovation…alone…with headphone on.

8. Tevye's Dream (Danny Burstein, Jessica Hecht, Lori Wilner, Jessica Vosk & Company)

Everything about this recording is the pinnacle of Fiddler albums. You’d be hard pressed to find a better “Dream”.

9. Wedding Procession (Orchestra)

Ok, let’s do this Fiddler.

10. Sunrise, Sunset (Full Company)

Gorgeous. Already added it to about five playlists.

11. Wedding Dance (Orchestra)

Just try to stand still—I dare you.

12. Now I Have Everything (Ben Rappaport & Samantha Massell)

13. Do You Love Me? (Danny Burstein & Jessica Hecht)

When you get actors like Burstein and Hecht performing an acting-intensive song like this, the result is so moving and so true—like the rest of this production. There’s no way you’re not smiling by the end.
