Photographer Jenny Anderson (who shot our fabulous Classic New York Films and Tony Awards Parties photos) brings BroadwayBox backstage for an exclusive new series capturing Broadway companies getting ready to take the stage. This week, she headed to Moscow by way of the Imperial Theatre to capture the company of the hit Broadway musical Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812 getting ready to take the stage with their new stars Okieriete Onaodowan & Ingrid Michaelson.

Billy Joe Kiessling knows how to pose and how to work the garment.
Then he grabs his violin to warm up before the show.
Meanwhile, pre-show for Nick Choksi (who plays fierce hot shot Dolokhov) involves pull-ups.
Then it’s time to chill for a minute.
Even the fake tattoos are Russian bear themed at Great Comet.

This outfit! 🙌
And Mary Page Nance & Blaine Alden Krauss are still all smiles.
Then we head to the wig room to find Sumayya Ali.
Over in the hall, joyful Reed Luplau rocks a smile and his Comet robe.
The musical’s current headliner, Okieriete Onaodowan (Oak), picks up his Pierre accordion.
Then he starts making some music.
Meanwhile, fellow headliner Ingrid Michaelson checks in with castmates before the performance.
There’s a war going on out there…
Katrina Yaukey is ready to rock this!
Ingrid Michaelson and Shoba Narayan both make their Broadway debuts in The Great Comet.
Aw!
The Balaga shakers might not be needed until Act Two, but they are ready and waiting from the jump.
Oak has the coolest pre-show ritual for Great Comet—he opens the stage door and plays for passerby.
And it’s VERY appreciated on 46th Street.
Standout Grace McLean (old-school aristocrat Marya D) heads to places.
Nick Choksi is in costume and ready for “The Prologue” to begin.
The cast heads up the stairs and soon The Great Comet is underway.
Don't miss Oak & Ingrid in 'The Great Comet', now through August 13.
