BroadwayBox and photographer Jenny Anderson (who shot our Classic New York Films and our Broadway Replacement Stars series) bring B'way fans backstage for an exclusive and continuing series which captures Broadway companies as they prepare to take the stage. Jenny recently made her way to the enchanted kingdom of Arendelle by way of Broadway's St. James Theatre to photograph the cast of the hit musical adaptation of Disney's Frozen
.We kick off our backstage adventure in the dressing room of leading lady Patti Murin, who stars as Anna. Today, Patti is having a mini princess party with the four young actresses who alternate the roles of Young Anna and Young Elsa at the beginning of the show, Fiona Morgan Quinn, Winter Donnelly, Mimi Ryder and Charlie Tassone.
Then we move over to the dressing room of the musical’s other leading lady, Caissie Levy.
Her physical transformation into the beloved character of Elsa is well underway.
This shot is fabulous and also check out how adorable Caissie’s son is in the photo in her makeup case.
Soon, Caissie welcomes Patti Murin, who plays her onstage sister Anna, to her dressing room. The pair checks in with each other and does their physical warm-up together.
It’s all about stretching and checking in with the body.
Then releasing everything into the universe.
And then hugs.
And more hugs.
Next, we head over to the shared dressing room of Noah J. Ricketts (above) and Ryann Redmond. Noah is an original cast member who took over the role of Kristoff.
Ryann Redmond breaks ground on Broadway as the first woman to play fan favorite Olaf.
Ryann begins her Olaf makeup with a smile. #WeMeltForRyann
While over in his section, Noah gets his wig cap and microphone all set.
Then it's time to visit Adam Jepsen and Andrew Pirozzi, who alternate the role of Kristoff's trusty reindeer, Sven. Here, Andrew Pirozzi gets his body ready for the physical demands of playing Sven on Broadway.
And then Ryann Redmond drops by for a kiki with Adam Jepsen.
Now it’s off to check in with Joe Carroll, who is busy shaving. He’s got to keep his Prince Hans looking dashing.
Speaking of dashing men, we next head over to the men’s ensemble dressing room where Donald Jones Jr., Nicholas Edwards, and Adam Perry are preparing for the performance.
How hygge! It’s original cast member Kevin Del Aguila, who performs the memorable Act II opener “Hygge”.
And there’s Mimi Ryder who plays Young Elsa at this performance!
It’s all smiles and laughs over in the ladies ensemble dressing room as they prepare for the epic opening moments of Frozen.
Over in her dressing room, Patti Murin is nearly ready to take the stage and provide endless joy as Anna in Frozen.
Patti gives herself one final look. (Also, the photo of her handsome husband, Colin Donnell, above her mirror is amazing.)
It’s costumes on and places for Caissie Levy and the company. Check out the amazing fan art in Caissie’s dressing room.
And there’s Noah J. Ricketts in his full Kristoff costume heading down to the stage.
Adam Perry (who has appeared in seven Broadway musicals) gives us one final glance before heading onstage.
As the show begins, Caissie puts on her Elsa gloves and gets a final touch-up before making her entrance during “Do You Want to Build a Snowman”.
It’s almost time for the big coronation day entrances. Soon, Joe Caroll will be announced as Prince Hans of the Southern Isles and another performance of Frozen will make magic at Broadway’s St. James Theatre.
