Photographer Jenny Anderson (who shot our Classic New York Films and our Broadway Replacement Stars series) brings BroadwayBox backstage for an exclusive series capturing Broadway companies getting ready to take the stage. Jenny recently made her way to Rodeo Drive by way of Broadway's Nederlander Theatre to photograph the cast of the hit musical adaptation of Pretty Woman
pre-show.What a welcome from Tommy Bracco, the former Newsie who audiences fall in love with as the Beverly Wilshire Hotel's bell hop, Giulio.
First stop is the dressing room of Pretty Woman’s suave AF leading man, three-time Tony nominee Andy Karl. He plays Edward Lewis, the lonely millionaire who finds love with Vivian.
Truly obsessed with this photo. It should be Andy Karl's album cover or hung poster-sized in bedrooms and dorm rooms across the world.
Ok, get ready to indulge us in a little Orfeh moment because mama is serving it and there’s not one photo to cut.
How badass is this candid?
The Tony nominee brings her one-of-a-kind, goosebumps-inducing voice to the role of Vivian’s sister in the life, Kit De Luca.
Yas, diva! This is what you call Big Orfeh Energy.
Next we follow this fine fella, Eric Anderson, to his dressing room.
Eric Anderson starts his pre-show prep with a big, strong cuppa in his very colorful, on-theme dressing room!
Eric begins the show as the street person “Happy Man” before transitioning to his role as the kind Beverly Wilshire hotel manager, Mr. Thompson. This is his Happy Man look from designer Gregg Barnes.
Eric’s Broadway resume include starring or co-starring roles in Kinky Boots, Waitress, Rocky, South Pacific, The Last Ship and, of course, Soul Doctor.
Looks like the pre-show caffeine kicked in! Time to kick it over to the male ensemble dressing room.
So turns out, the guys’ dressing room is the place to turn up pre-show.
Before appearing in Pretty Woman, Jake Odmark co-starred in another hit Jerry Mitchell musical, Kinky Boots.
Standout Broadway dancer Max Clayton is having some fun in Beverly Hills before he high kicks it over to Moulin Rouge again this summer.
Tell me this is not a cover photo. #Swoon.
Next stop is the ladies ensemble dressing room, another room buzzing with excitement pre-show.
Proof every lady in this show is a total powerhouse.
The golden-voiced Broadway favorite Jason Danieley is ready to take the stage as the slimy Phillip Stuckey.
Jason does look awfully swell while playing such a swine.
Counting out a Samantha Barks moment in this gallery? Big mistake! The leading lady of Pretty Woman descends the stairs in her first Vivian Ward costume.
Pretty Woman headliners Andy Karl and Samantha Barks check in with each other pre-show and share a laugh.
It’s places call for Pretty Woman!
This photo of these two angels will always bring a smile to our faces. Eric Anderson & Samantha Barks head to the stage. See this entire, fantastic company live in Pretty Woman at Broadway’s Nederlander Theatre.
