Get in, Squirrel Friend, we’re going to DragCon. Broadway’s Mean Girls is coming to NYC’s upcoming DragCon, and the cross-section of fans won’t want to miss this kiki on Sunday, October 30.
First up, the “Too Gay To Function: The Cultural History of Mean Girls” panel reunites Damian in the Broadway musical (Tony nominee Grey Henson), Damian from the film (Daniel Franzese, I love your work!), and Tina Fey’s real-life inspiration for Damian (Damian Holbrook) for a conversation on the cultural significance of Mean Girls and why it has become so influential in gay and drag culture.
Then on the runway, YOU can enter the North Shore Winter Talent Show and lip sync for your life to Regina George’s big song “World Burn” from Broadway’s Mean Girls. The winner won’t get a $100,000 or a sickening supply of Anastasia Beverly Hills cosmetics, but rather the esteemed title of Queen Bee of North Shore. (Maybe your portrait will hang in a hall with Trixie, Chad, and Alaska?) The lip sync will be judged by none other than Tony nominee Taylor Louderman herself and B’way Damian, Grey Henson. Here’s the song, so you can get to practicing. Good luck, and don’t fetch it up.
Mean Girls runs at Broadway’s August Wilson Theatre, and DragCon NYC is gagging the children from September 28-30 at the Javits Center.
