With her huge voice and a mega-talent, Caroline Bowman has already tackled some of musical theatre's most demanding roles (Elphaba in Wicked, Eva Peron in Evita and the Lady of the Lake in Spamalot), and on July 8, she makes her eagerly-awaited Feinstein's/54 Below debut. If you've ever gone on a shameless Bowman YouTube spiral, you know just what a can't-miss concert this is going to be.
BroadwayBox caught up with Bowman to hear from the Broadway leading lady about the iconic musical theatre roles she can't wait to take on during her career.
Sally Bowles (Cabaret)
She is such a tragically, complicated, funny, insecure woman. I'd love a chance to tackle this role for so many reasons.
Louise and Mama Rose (Gypsy)
Double whammy! I've always wanted to play Louise in Gypsy and then later on down the line play Mama Rose. Both are powerhouse acting roles. I think Gypsy is the most brilliant musical and I'm always re-inspired when I see it. Pretty much, any role that either Laura Benanti or Patti Lupone play, I'd like on my bucket list!
Eliza Doolittle (My Fair Lady)
I have always dreamed of playing this role. So far in my career, I haven't had many opportunities to share my soprano voice. It would be a fun and welcomed challenge to play the many different sides of Eliza. My college voice teacher always had me sing Eliza's songs because she thought it was a good role for me! So it's thanks to her that I have this dream.
See the incredible Caroline Bowman blow the roof off of 54 Below on July 8.
