In 1939, MGM released The Wizard of Oz. Based on L. Frank Baum’s popular children’s book, The Wizard of Oz became a cultural touchstone in America and around the world and made a living legend of its star, Judy Garland. To commemorate 80 years of Oscar-winning film (as well as the upcoming 45th anniversary of The Wiz on January 5, 2020), BroadwayBox teamed up with photographer Curtis Brown, award-winning & up-and-coming costume designer Beck Jones, and director/videographer Jaytel Provence to present Broadway Celebrates Oz, a modern, editorial look back at Oz in 2019 and its beloved characters. Shot throughout New York's Central Park, Broadway Celebrates Oz features Laura Osnes as Dorothy, Ariana DeBose as The Scarecrow, Matt Doyle as The Tin Man, Jelani Alladin as The Lion, Christine Ebersole as Glinda, Donna Murphy as The Wicked Witch, Andrew Keenan-Bolger as the Flying Monkey, Jaysin McCollum, Spencer Clark, & Jamie Kasey Patterson as The Lollipop Guild, and Jordan Roth as The Wizard.
