Feinstein’s/54 Below hosts The Humane Society’s sold-out, one-night-only benefit concert Best in Shows on October 15. This year, Dorothy and Bill Berloni honor Seth Rudetsky with the Sandy Award, for his work with and support of rescued animals. While snagging a ticket to attend might be difficult, you can participate in the very Broadway-centric online auction through October 21.
BroadwayBox chatted with some of the pet owners in the concert and asked each of them: Every pet parent has imagined the human counterpart that would play your pet Look Who’s Talking Now style. Who is that actor or personality for your pet?
Kevin Chamberlin
Samantha would be played by Emma Stone. They’re both redheads with star quality, a wry sense of humor, and poise. People are drawn to both of them.
Seth Rudetsky
Mandy: Queen Bee, pushy, super-loyal, pees in the house—Wanda Sykes
Bagel: scrappy, stubborn, pees in the house—Nathan Lane
Mateo: dopey, rambunctious, rescued from Puerto Rico, pees where Bagel pees —Lin-Manuel Miranda
Molly: quick to anger, loving, unpredictable nachtmare, hates Bagel—Jennifer Cody
Romeo (the cat): Stunning, confident, pees on my piano—Andy Karl
Joanna Gleason
Lucy would be played by Salma Hayek—Brunette, fiery, emotional, gorgeous, bilingual!
Kate Rockwell
Eartha Kitt would be my casting choice for Mabel, because she definitely thinks like a super villain and is way smarter than all of her humans...
Jennifer Coolidge would be my choice for Bessie, because she’s got an absolute heart of gold but she’s not the classiest lady...or the smartest....or the most graceful...
Betsy Wolfe
I grew up with 10 cats, 2 dogs, and a number of other rescues people would bring to the “Wolfe House”. I don’t have any furry friends yet in NYC but I’m hoping to bring a rescue home soon :) Growing up I had a cat named Annie and she was pretty much the best cat ever so naturally she would be played by Meryl Streep.
"Best in Shows" plays Feinstein's/54 Below on October 15, and the online auction runs through October 21.
