In a very starry fall Broadway season, Love Letters sets itself apart by offering up a rotating cast of nine stage and screen luminaries [Brian Dennehy, Mia Farrow, Carol Burnett, Alan Alda, Candice Bergen, Stacy Keach, Diana Rigg, Martin Sheen & Anjelica Huston], and we here at BroadwayBox can’t help but lose our minds over this revival.
The idea that we can go to the Brooks Atkinson Theatre and see Rosemary Woodhouse, Miss Hannigan, Murphy Brown, Olenna Tyrell and Morticia Addams live in a play that will make us both laugh and cry is almost too much for the heart to handle. But seriously, A.R. Gurney’s two-hander about a 50-year correspondence between an unhappy female artist and an uptight male in politics is going to be a major Broadway event that no one should miss. Below, we tip our hats to the ladies of Love Letters (no disrespect you group of Tony, Emmy and Golden Globe-winning gentlemen) with some totally unprofessional fan-out moments.
Mia Farrow (starring September 13 through October 10, 2014)
Why We Love Her: Named one of Time Magazine’s most influential people in the world, Golden Globe winner Mia Farrow has juggled acting and activism in a career that has spanned 60 years. Farrow was one of Woody Allen’s greatest muses, appearing in 12 of his films; and of her non-Allen work, she left lasting impressions in the terrifying Rosemary’s Baby, the beautiful The Great Gatsby (video below), the sexy Peyton Place and a TV movie of Peter Pan. Not to mention, she was almost Liesl in The Sound of Music with Julie Andrews...so there's that. Must-Watch YouTube Clip:

Carol Burnett (starring October 11 through November 8, 2014)
Why We Love Her: The word comedy icon gets thrown around a little, but six-time Emmy winner Carol Burnett is a living legend and a comedy icon. She broke out as the star of Once Upon a Mattress (video below), she made TV history with the 11-year run of The Carol Burnett Show and she gave us life in the truest sense of the phrase in the film adaptations of Broadway’s Annie and Noises Off. Oh, and she’s the first woman to receive the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor and the Kennedy Center Honors—BAM!

Candice Bergen (starring November 9 through December 5, 2014)
Why We Love Her: Aside from being a high-fashion model and the five-time Emmy-winning star of Murphy Brown (both of which earned major points in our book), Candice Bergen brought us unspeakable joy in the films Gandhi, Miss Congeniality and Sweet Home Alabama and the TV shows Boston Legal, Sex and the City and Will & Grace. Unspeakable. Must-Watch YouTube Clip:

Diana Rigg (starring December 6, 2014 through January 9, 2015)
Why We Love Her: Yes, Diana Rigg is a British treasure, a former Bond girl, the star of The Avengers (video below) and a Tony, Emmy, BAFTA and Evening Standard Award winner who is just killing it on Game of Thrones, but did you know she played Lady Holiday in The Great Muppet Caper?! #AlltheAwards Must-Watch YouTube Clip:

Anjelica Huston (starring January 10 through February 15, 2015)
Why We Love Her: Sure, Anjelica Huston has some Oscar-winning credits to her name, she was an inspiration to Woody Allen and Wes Anderson, she was a model and she starred in Smash. All wonderful. Brava. But we’ll be at the Brooks Atkinson this winter to bow down to The Grand High Witch and Morticia Addams in person. Must-Watch YouTube Clip:
