Tony-nominated director Michael Arden takes on the classic musical My Fair Lady at Bay Street Theater, starring Paul Alexander Nolan as Henry Higgins and Kelli Barrett as Eliza Doolittle. Finally, footage of the intimate revival has been released, and fans are as happy as Higgins when Eliza lost her harsh cockney accent.
Below are 10 reactions I had watching the video clips.
That feeling when you realize it’s going to start with your favorite song from the score, “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly”
Then you watch the staging and you’re like, “Oh how clever. I see you, Michael Arden.”
Dat Set Doe
Paul Alexander Nolan serving that Daddy Long Legs realness behind the desk like.
During “Just You Wait”, I pretty much fell in love with Kelli Barrett’s Eliza.
Everything about “The Rain in Spain” made me look up transportation to Bay Street. No joke.
That moment you realize that all you’re getting of Paul Alexander Nolan’s killer voice is the bit in “Rain in Spain”.
Then this moment that clearly had to be GIF-ed.
And there can never be enough GIFs involving tea. This could be, “when the tea is so good you cheer.”
Ending it with the My Fair Lady’s other uber-beloved song, “I Could Have Danced All Night” got me all.
Get over to Sag Harbor’s Bay Street Theater before September 4 to see Kelli Barrett and Paul Alexander Nolan in Michael Arden’s revival of My Fair Lady.
