Tickets at Todd Haimes Theatre
The Todd Haimes Theatre was built in 1918 by producers (and brothers) Arch and Edgar Selwyn and was originally named The Selwyn Theatre. Like many other theaters, it fell victim to the economic woes of the Great Depression and became a movie house in the 1930s.
The venue was a movie theater for almost 70 years, until it was purchased by the Roundabout Theatre Company in the late 1990s. After an expensive overhaul, it reopened as The American Airlines Theatre in 2000. In January 2024, the theater was renamed in memory of Roundabout Theatre Company's longtime artistic director and chief executive Todd Haimes.

Story for Marvin's Room
Lee is a single mother who's been busy raising her troubled teenage son, Hank. Her estranged sister Bessie has her hands full with their elderly father, his soap opera-obsessed sister—and a brand-new life-or-death diagnosis. Now the women are about to reunite for the first time in 18 years. Are Lee’s good intentions and makeover skills enough to make up for her long absence? Can Bessie help Hank finally feel at home somewhere… or at least keep him from burning her house down? Can these almost-strangers become a family in time to make plans, make amends, and maybe make a trip to Disney World?
Exploring an unsentimental reality with hope, compassion and a dose of wonderfully absurd humor, Marvin’s Room is a life-affirming reminder of the gift we give ourselves when we love unconditionally.
Critics’ Reviews for Marvin's Room
"A MUST-SEE! The new Broadway revival, now playing at the American Airlines Theatre and SUPERBLY DIRECTED BY ANNE KAUFFMAN, does ‘Marvin's Room’ extraordinary justice – it makes the case that a mostly forgotten play might just be a modern classic."
"FOUR STARS! “ANNE KAUFFMAN’S LUMINOUS REVIVAL FOR THE ROUNDABOUT TENDS TO MCPHERSON’S LEGACY WITH GRACE."
"LILI TAYLOR IS LOVELY… JANEANE GAROFALO IS BRILLIANT… CELIA WESTON IS DIVINE."
