Story for Hasan Minhaj: Homecoming King
Hasan Minhaj: Homecoming King is the debut solo show of comedian Hasan Minhaj ("The Daily Show") directed by Greg Walloch.
Homecoming King is the story of the ‘New Brown America’; Minhaj’s first generation Indian-American experience navigating between two worlds. It follows Minhaj’s arrival to the US, meeting the sister he didn't know he had, interracial love, and his family’s quest to achieve the elusive American Dream.
Building off the popularity of ‘Prom’ on NPR’s ‘The Moth Radio Hour’ his stories on race, identity, and forgiveness garnered critical acclaim at Sundance’s prestigious New Frontier Storytelling Lab.
Based on true events from Hasan’s life, the show has a corresponding featurette Fight Through The Pick discussing bullying and racism in high school and art gallery The New Brown America curated by acclaimed illustrator and painter Sam Spratt.
“It’s wonderful. You’re going to laugh. Probably cry. Because you, unlike me, can still feel.” - John Stewart’
“One of the most authentic voices to come onto the storytelling scene in years. Above all else, Hasan is a master storyteller.” - Catherine Burns, The Moth
