Story for Avenue Q
Avenue Q is the story of Princeton, a bright-eyed college grad who comes to New York City with big dreams and a tiny bank account. He soon discovers that the only neighborhood in his price range is Avenue Q; still, the neighbors seem nice. There's Brian, the out-of-work comedian, and his therapist fiancé Christmas Eve; Nicky, the good-hearted slacker, and his roommate Rod — a Republican investment banker who seems to have some sort of secret; an Internet addict called Trekkie Monster; and a very cute kindergarten teaching assistant named Kate. Together, Princeton and his newfound friends struggle to find jobs, dates, and their ever-elusive purpose in life.
Avenue Q won Tony Awards for Best Book, Best Score and Best Musical. Song titles include "Everyone's A Little Bit Racist," "If You Were Gay," "It Sucks to Be Me" and "The Internet Is for Porn."
"Avenue Q is the best show of the year! Just when you're wheezing with laughter from the hummable, hilarious tunes, you're blindsided by a beautifully sincere love song. There's no handy way to describe Avenue Q, except as one of the funniest shows you're ever likely to see," Entertainment Weekly.
Despite the use of adorable puppets, this musical is not for kids.
